The home emergency solution in Spain
One Call home emergency service is the newest and freshest solution to all your domestic plumbing and electrical problems. Whether your home is an apartment or villa, owned, rented or just for the holidays, being a member of One Call will relieve you of the worry of finding suitable, honest and reliable tradesmen quickly, in the event of an emergency.
About the company
The idea of One Call came about simply due to the lack of a reasonably priced, reliable and swift emergency service for plumbing and electrical problems. Helen Parker, the Managing Director, previously worked in the construction industry in the Costa del Sol as a project manager, and was constantly asked about whether she could ‘recommend’ a good electrician or plumber. They are a rare breed here on the coast, and the ones who are good are often hard to get hold of because they are so busy. The other issue is the cost - often the cost of getting hold of a plumber or electrician at short notice or at an unsociable time of the day is expensive - once you’ve paid the call out fee which can be between €50-60, you then have to take into account labour charges and parts, which can make the whole experience frustrating and costly.
Alan Arnold, Helen’s business partner, had taken on a similar business in the UK several years ago which proved to be a huge success. It was obvious that an idea like this would be really well received here on the Costa del Sol, so in September this year, they launched ‘One Call-Una Llamada SL’.
One Call removes the need for having to quickly phone around to find a plumber or electrician in an emergency situation at an awkward time of the day or night, which more often than not also implies hefty call out and labour charges, especially out of hours. They have experienced friendly technicians available to promptly attend members’ emergencies with no call out fees, labour charges or worries as to whether or not tradesperson will be able to deal swiftly and effectively with the problem. Being a member of One Call entitles you to all this, with the added bonus that there is no limit to the amount of times you call them out. They are always available, 24 hours a day, all year round.
For added peace of mind, should your home in Spain not be permanently occupied, One Call operates an optional secure key holding service, so that if the unthinkable were to happen whilst you were away, One Call technicians could gain entrance to your property and address the problem, as a matter of urgency.
One Call members also enjoy a privileged service of free quotations, no call out charges and competitive pricing for all non emergency domestic plumbing and electrical work that they may require. They employ all their technicians full-time so as to avoid problems with availability or non-response. Whilst they won’t promise a maximum call-out time (as this often causes more frustrations), all technicians have their own branded vans stocked with frequently used parts and GPS systems with the clients’ address so they can get to the property as swiftly as possible, and endeavour to fix the problem there and then. All the technicians speak Spanish and English.
So, as a member of One Call-Una Llamada, you are entitled to the following:
- unlimited access to a plumber & electrician throughout the course of the year for emergency call-outs (domestic call-outs)
- no call-out or labour charges for the emergencies
- fast response, 24 hours a day, all year round
- optional key holding service (at a very small extra cost) in order for them to gain access to your property in your absence in order to resolve an emergency situation
- competitive quotes for ongoing work as a result of the emergency or non-urgent ad-hoc plumbing/electrical work
NB: Please note One Call only charge for any new parts used in the repair of the problem, at the same price they would cost in a hardware store.
