Harrogate - French Property Exhibition

The Harrogate show hosted with French Property News traditionally brings a varied selection of period and new build properties under one roof and affords both buyers and sellers the chance to meet experts in the fields of relocation, currency, taxation and property…this year did not disappoint. Although the number of properties being presented was down on last year there was a distinctly positive feeling amongst visitors to the Yorkshire Exhibition Centre. A higher concentration of cash buyers meant that seminars were well attended, and for those with a longer time frame it was a great introduction to the buying process and a chance to compare what they can get for their money now with the prices of 2008.

The Currencies Direct stand was visited by a number of existing customers looking to set up regular monthly payments and take advantage of the recent addition of a free and automated rate watch service. All in all the show embodied the increased fervour with which overseas buyers are preparing themselves for an upturn in the market. Those who have been looking for the past two years have come to terms with the fact that the rate is at a lazy 1.11 and are looking forward to the further drop in property value to mitigate their loss on the currency exchange.  Those newly considering movement to France are budgeting for rates that will hopefully move in their favour as the year continues.

The show was very useful for gauging sentiment in the market, all boxes were ticked and we are looking forward to the Olympia Show with relish.
